A series of 10 practical workshops in medico-legal practice


SAMLA has developed 10 practical workshops in medico-legal practice. These workshops can be viewed online as stand-alone workshops, or can be completed, in combination with SAMLA's foundations of medico-legal course, towards the certificate in medico-legal competence issued — upon successful completion of all requirements — by the University of Cape Town's Faculty of Law. details of these workshops are available on this website.

The topics of the 10 workshops are as follows:

Workshop one: traumatic brain injury

Workshop two: psychological consequences, emotional shock and Constitutional damages. Monetary and non-monetary compensation.

Workshop three: RAF4 assessments and recommendations

Workshop five: mediation (four mediators, attorneys, advocates, expert witnesses)

Workshop six: pre-trial procedures — case management

Workshop seven: expert report writing

Workshop eight: the structure and functioning of the judicial system: curatorship, trusts and case management post-trial

Workshop nine: Expert joint minutes

Workshop 10: Trial procedures and trials — cerebral palsy case
